Located adjacent to the primary computer core in the saucer section on deck 3 is the library and central archive access. At this location, the crew can accomplish a number of tasks. The primary purpose of the library is to house the works of some of the most poplar and famous collected works from across the Federation and neighboring species. While books are not commonplace due to the advancements in computer technology, they are not obsolete. Many of the crew prefer the experience of reading a book over a computer PADD.
Books and other collected works are housed in the two-deck structure.
The two levels are interconnected by a lift, allowing easy travel between
levels. Books are organized and watched over typically by an enlisted crewman
that serves as a librarian.
In addition to providing books, the Library is also a primary research
and referrence area. There are several computer stations and desktop
terminals throughout, allowing direct access to the computer core.
Officers and crewman can search through litterally thousands of archives
and billions of articles. An extensive database on lifeforms and xenobiology
is located in the library as well.
